    The idea that dietary saturated fats clog arteries and lead to coronary artery disease (CAD) and coronary heart disease (CHD) has been widely accepted in the medical community and by the public for decades.     A collaboration of cardiologists, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, found no evidence linking dietary saturated fat intake with an increased risk of heart disease. They attribute these misconceptions to selective data reporting and call for a shift in public health messaging.

    The authors suggest that instead of focusing on reducing dietary saturated fat and serum lipids, the emphasis should be on adopting healthy lifestyle practices, including eating "real food," engaging in regular physical activity, and managing stress levels.

    Research shows that coronary artery disease is not caused by saturated fats alone but is a chronic inflammatory condition. Inflammation leads to cholesterol deposits within artery walls, causing plaque formation (atherosclerosis). While abnormal cholesterol levels are associated with CAD, they are not the primary cause.
